The gaps in long-term school success between low-income children and higher-income children are, in large part, present the day kids start kindergarten. What could be effective in reducing the disadvantages that arise in early childhood? A half-day conference at Marquette University will provide insight from national experts and from people trying to improve the situation in Milwaukee. Speakers will include Dana Suskind, M.D., of the University of Chicago and the Thirty Million Words initiative and Katherine Magnuson, Ph.D., director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Institute for Research on Poverty and an expert on the impact of poverty on children.

Please join us for this opportunity to focus on one of Milwaukee’s biggest needs.
