Katie Dealy joined TMW as chief operating officer in January 2017. In addition to spearheading strategic planning for the new Center, she also oversees fundraising, partnership building, staff management, and day-to-day operations. Dealy has extensive experience spanning public policy, early childhood education, and nonprofit program leadership. Prior to joining TMW, she worked for the national offices of Teach For America from 2010 to 2016 in increasingly advanced roles, most recently serving as chief of staff to the CEO from 2013 to 2016. While at Teach For America, Dealy oversaw the organization’s efforts to grow the pipeline of TFA alumni who pursued careers in policy, advocacy, and organizing. She created the Capitol Hill Fellows Program, a year-long bipartisan fellowship program on Capitol Hill. Prior to TFA, Dealy worked in early childhood policy: she was an early childhood policy analyst at the City of Chicago Department of Family & Support Services. She was the education program officer at the Mayer and Morris Kaplan Family Foundation, and also worked for the Ounce of Prevention Fund as senior writer. Dealy has a BA in Government from Cornell University and an M.A. from Teachers College at Columbia University with two concentrations, one in family and community education, and one in health education. Katie lives in Evanston with her husband, Alan and three young sons. When not at work, Katie most enjoys spending time with her kids, reading about politics, taking yoga and pilates classes, and trying new recipes.
